Greenback Choppy Versus Singapore Dollar, Lower To Hong Kong And Malaysian Counterparts; Late Monday, Tuesday, April 17, 2007 2:55:53 AM

The US currency lost ground against the Hong Kong and the Malaysian counterparts on late Monday in New York. However, the Greenback largely showed choppy trading versus the Singapore dollar, but it held steady with the Thai Baht.

To the other major asian currencies like the Japanese Yen, the Indian Rupee and the South Korean Won, the Greenback showed weakness during the session.

In the late evening hours on Monday, the US currency showed choppy trading versus the Singapore dollar. At about 8:00 pm ET, the pair started to weaken but it bounced back within half an hour. The pair showed a choppy trend again thereafter. However, the Greenback ticked down again at about 12:50 am ET Tuesday and fetched 1.5129 Singapore dollars as of 2:53 am Eastern Time.

Against the Hong Kong dollar, the Buck traded in a tight range until about 8:00 pm ET Monday, but lost ground thereafter. The pair touched the day`s low of 7.8099 after about an hour. Soon after, the Buck made some advances. Around midnight, the pair moved sideways and extended the same trend into the overnight deals on Tuesday. As of 2:53 am Eastern Time, a Buck traded at 7.8118 Hong Kong dollars.

The US dollar moved sideways against its South Korean counterpart on late Monday in New York. At about 9:30 pm ET, the dollar made a steep fall but by about 12:05 am ET Tuesday, the pair advanced slightly. The dollar edged lower again after about an hour and it was quoted at 929.9000 Won as of 2:48 am Eastern Time.

To the Indian currency, the US dollar showed an uncertain trend during the late deals on Monday. However, the dollar drifted down at about 11:40 pm ET and touched as low as 41.6250 by about 12:15 am ET Tuesday. The dollar then traded slightly higher and it collected 41.7150 Rupees as of 2:53 am Eastern Time.

At about 4:40 pm ET Monday, the Greenback fell sharply versus the Thailand currency. However, the Greenback bounced back completely within a few minutes from its fall and then held steady. In the small morning hours on Tuesday, the pair shed a few pips and as of 2:53 am Eastern Time, a Greenback was worth 32.5150 against the Thai Baht.
