Swiss Franc Higher To Yen, Uncertain To Rest Of Majors; Small Morning Deals On Monday, Monday, April 16, 2007 3:58:13 AM

During the small morning deals on Monday in New York, the Swiss currency trended higher versus the Japanese Yen. However, the Franc showed an uncertain trend against the rest of majors. The German March CPI data released at 2:00 am ET caused very little price action in the euro against the Franc. The traders are now looking for the British Producer price indices for March and the February DCLG house prices data, followed by the Euro-Zone March CPI figures shortly after. The US March retail sales and the empire manufacturing details are slated for 8:30 am ET.

The US dollar showed choppy trading versus the Swiss Franc in the late hours on Sunday. At about 12:35 am ET Monday, the pair started to trade higher but it weakened slightly after about an hour. The dollar gained momentum again at about 2:45 am ET and then showed a choppy trend. As of 3:56 am Eastern Time, a dollar fetched 1.2133 Francs.

Late Sunday in New York, the European currency moved sideways against its Swiss counterpart. The pair slid briefly at about 11:35 pm ET but followed a sideways movement again soon after. The German March CPI data released at 2:00 am ET Monday, caused very little price action in the pair. As of 3:56 am Eastern Time, a Euro traded at 1.6442 Francs.

The British currency lost ground against the Swiss Franc on late Sunday in New York. Off 2.4083 by about 8:25 pm ET the Cable bounced back completely. At about 12:15 am ET Monday, the pair shed a few pips but ticked higher again within a few minutes. After collecting as much as 2.4144 by about 1:55 am ET, the pair gave back most of its recent gains. Largely, the pair showed an uncertain trend during the session. As of 3:56 am Eastern Time, a Cable was quoted at 2.4111 Francs.

Against the Yen, the Swiss currency moved sideways until about 10:00 pm ET Sunday, but spiked higher thereafter. Around midnight, the Franc showed a choppy trend and continued the same trend into the small morning hours on Monday. However, at about 1:50 am ET, the pair edged higher and collected an early morning high of 98.52 within about an hour. The Franc slipped slightly thereafter and collected 98.43 Yen as of 3:56 am Eastern Time.
