Dollar Mixed In Trading Against South East Asian Currencies Late Sunday, Monday, April 16, 2007 2:54:18 AM

The US dollar saw mixed dealing against the South East Asian currencies during late Sunday trading in New York. While the dollar made advances versus the Thai Baht, it lost ground against the Singapore and the Malaysian counterparts. However, the US dollar largely showed an uncertain trend versus the Hong Kong dollar.

Against the other major asian currencies, the Indian rupee moved sideways against the dollar. On the other hand, to the South Korean Won, the dollar surged during the session but it weakened slightly versus the Japanese Yen.

Against the Singapore dollar, the Greenback drifted lower in the late hours on Sunday. The pair advanced slightly at about 8:40 pm ET but it dropped again after about an hour. After touching a low of 1.5125 by about 1:00 am ET Monday, the Greenback moved sideways. As of 2:51 am Eastern Time, a Greenback fetched 1.5141 Singapore dollars.

As the week`s trading started, the US currency weakened slightly versus the Hong Kong dollar. Off 7.8121 by about 8:45 pm ET, the pair made some advances and then showed a choppy trend. The Buck extended the same trend into the small morning hours on Monday. Currently the pair has been strengthening slightly and as of 2:51 am Eastern Time, a Buck traded at 7.8141 Hong Kong dollars.

Late Sunday in New York, the US dollar traded slightly lower against its South Korean counterpart. However, at about 8:30 pm ET, off 927.9000 the dollar spiked higher to 929.3000 after about a couple of hours. The pair then traded in a loose range but by about 1:15 am ET Monday, the dollar made another sharp spike higher and it was quoted at 931.0000 Won as of 2:42 am Eastern Time.

To the Indian currency, the US dollar moved sideways during much of the late Sunday hours. However, in the overnight deals on Monday, the dollar lost ground and collected 42.3000 Rupees as of 2:51 am Eastern Time.

During the late deals on Sunday, the US currency trended higher versus the Thai Baht. The pair hit as high as 32.5250 by about 10:50 pm ET and then held steady. As of 2:51 am Eastern Time Monday, a Greenback was worth 32.5250 Thai Baht.
