Forex News: 12.04.2007 UK trade deficit widens in February

The global goods trade deficit rose to GBP6.8 billion in February from a revised GBP6.4 billion in January. Office for National Statistics originally reported that the trade deficit stood at GBP6.2 billion in the first month of the year.

The UK's global goods trade deficit widened in February as imports of aircraft, chemicals, cars and other consumer goods increased.

Economists had forecast the trade deficit would be GBP6.4 billion.

Global goods imports increased to GBP25.198 billion in February from GBP24.899 billion in January, while exports slipped slightly to GBP18.407 billion from GBP18.497 billion the previous month.
