Forex News:04.04.2007 Euro Zone retail sales rose 0.3 pct in February

Retail sales in the 13 countries that share the euro rebounded in February, although not as strongly as expected. Retail sales volumes in the euro zone rose 0.3% on the month and 1.2% on the year, the European Union's statistics agency reported.

The monthly rise was smaller than expected, with economists surveyed by Dow Jones Newswires last week having estimated that sales rose 0.5%.

However, Eurostat revised its estimate for the decline in retail sales in January to 0.8% on the month from 1.0% previously. As a result of that revision, the year-on-year rate of growth in retail sales during February was in line with expectations.
