Forex News: 03.04.2007 Producer prices rose by 0.3% in the euro area in February
The producer price index for the euro area rose in February by 0.3% in a month and 2.9% in a year, Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities reported today. In January producer prices grew by 0.1% and 2.9%, in a month and year respectively.
It is important to note that the producer price index is more precise when it does not include prices of food and energy sectors. The prices excluding energy rose in February by 0.3% in a month and 3.4% in a year. Energy prices grew by 0.4% in a month and 1.0% in a year.
Prices for intermediate goods rose by 0.4% in a month and 5.9% in year. Durable goods prices grew by 0.4% in a month and 2.0% in a year. Capital goods prices rose by 0.1% and 2.1%, in a month and year respectively. Non-durable goods prices rose by 0.2% and 1.5%.
