Dollar Mixed In Trading Against Southeast Asian Currencies Late Thursday, Friday, April 20, 2007 3:00:02 AM

The US dollar saw mixed dealing against the Southeast Asian currencies during late Thursday in New York. While the US dollar ticked down versus the Singapore dollar, it gained momentum against the Hong Kong dollar. On the other hand, the dollar showed choppy trading against the Malaysian currency, but it held steady with the Thai Baht.

To the other major Asian currencies like the Japanese Yen and the Indian Rupee, the dollar made advances during the session. However, it showed weakness against the South Korean Won.

The US currency moved sideways versus the Singapore dollar until about 7:40 pm ET Thursday, but slipped thereafter. The pair advanced slightly within about an hour but it lost ground again at about 9:35 pm ET. After touching a low of 1.5089 by about 12:10 am ET Friday, the Greenback moved sideways again. As of 2:56 am Eastern Time, a Greenback fetched 1.5094 Singapore dollars.

Against the Hong Kong dollar, the US currency started drifting higher at about 8:05 pm ET Thursday. The uptrend helped the pair to hit the day`s high of 7.8149 after about a couple of hours. Around midnight, the Buck traded in a range but by about 12:50 am ET Friday, the pair lost a few pips. As of 2:56 am Eastern Time, a Buck traded at 7.8136 Hong Kong dollars.

Drifting lower in the late evening hours on Thursday, the US dollar traded at 926.9000 against its South Korean counterpart at about 8:25 pm ET. Soon after, the pair bounced back some of its losses but moved sideways within about a couple of hours. However, at about 12:10 am ET Friday, the dollar ticked down slightly and it was quoted at 928.7000 Won as of 2:52 am Eastern Time.

The US dollar showed choppy trading versus the Indian currency on late Thursday in New York. At about 10:50 pm ET, off 41.9000 the dollar gained momentum to 42.0900 by about 12:15 am ET Friday. The pair then gave back a few of its gains and as of 2:56 am Eastern Time, a dollar collected 42.0000 Rupees.

Much of the late deals on Thursday, the Greenback held steady against the Thailand currency. Of late the pair has been resuming the same trend and as of 2:56 am Eastern Time Friday, a Greenback was worth 32.4750 against the Thai Baht.
