Dollar Higher To Hong Kong Currency, Lower To Singapore And Malaysian Counterparts; Late Wednesday, Thursday, April 19, 2007 2:46:18 AM

Late Wednesday in New York, the US dollar showed strength versus the Hong Kong dollar, but it lost ground against the Singapore and the Malaysian counterparts. However, the dollar largely steady with the Thai Baht.

Against the other major Asian currencies, the Japanese Yen gained momentum versus the dollar. On the other hand, the dollar traded in a loose range against the South Korean Won, but it strengthened against the Indian Rupee.

Drifting lower in the late hours on Wednesday, the US currency traded at 1.5087 versus the Singapore dollar at about 10:10 pm ET. The Greenback then moved sideways and extended the same trend into the overnight deals on Thursday. As of 2:44 am Eastern Time, a Greenback fetched 1.5106 Singapore dollars.

Against the Hong Kong dollar, the US currency showed choppy trading until about 8:40 pm ET Wednesday. The Buck spiked higher thereafter but it followed a sideways movement within a little longer than an hour. However, around midnight, the pair ticked up again and carried over its uptrend into the small morning hours on Thursday. As of 2:44 am Eastern Time, a Buck traded at 7.8132 Hong Kong dollars.

The US dollar moved sideways against its South Korean counterpart on late Wednesday in New York. The dollar fell sharply by about 7:45 pm ET and touched a low of 925.8000 within a few minutes. Soon after, the pair bounced back completely and entered a loose range. As of 2:30 am Eastern Time Thursday, a dollar was quoted at 928.7000 Won.

During late Wednesday evening, the US dollar was uncertain versus the Indian currency. At about 8:50 pm ET, the dollar shed a few pips but it trended higher after about an hour. The uptrend helped the dollar to collect as much as 42.1900 at about 12:15 am ET Thursday. The pair then moved sideways and as of 2:44 am Eastern Time, a dollar collected 42.1550 Rupees.

Much of the late hours on Wednesday, the Greenback held steady against the Thailand currency. The pair continued the same trend into the overnight deals on Thursday and as of 2:44 am Eastern Time, a Greenback was worth 32.1750 against the Thai Baht.
