Southeast Asian currencies were mostly strong against their counterparts on Friday, while the rupiah was choppy against the dollar. The currencies moved with little economic news from the area.The Thai baht edged up against the dollar in trading on Friday to a mark of 32.590. Overall, the baht remains within the range of the past two and a half months. In trading with the euro, the baht rose to a mark of 43.9280. On the whole, the currency is at a weekly high against the euro.
The Indonesian rupiah showed little decisive direction against the buck on Friday. As trading moved into the mid-morning, the currency held between a high of 8785.0000 and a low of 8820.0000. Generally, the rupiah is at a yearly high against the dollar.
The Singapore dollar edged up against its American counterpart on Friday to a mark of 1.5245. Generally, the currency is still near a two week low. In trading with the euro, the currency edged up to a mark of 2.0531. On the whole, the currency is at a weekly high.
