Energy Prices Down Early, Monday, June 18, 2007 10:12:57 AM
Energy prices fell Monday morning at the start of the week in U.S. trading. Crude oil fell away from the $68 mark it closed at on Friday. Natural gas, heating oil and gasoline also slipped away from recent highs.Oil prices eased at the start of U.S. trading Monday, after soaring to a nine-month high in its previous session. Light sweet crude was at $67.63, down 37 cents on the session, as experts speculate that stockpiles went up last week. Oil prices got as high as $68.30 on Friday afternoon on supply concerns and turmoil in the Middle East.
Natural gas prices slipped early Monday morning in U.S. trading. July-dated natural gas lost 10.5 cents to $7.813. It climbed to a weekly high on Friday.
Heating oil was down slightly at the start of U.S. trading on Monday. July-heating oil was down less than a cent to $2.0069, after slipping slightly on Friday off of a multi-month high.
Gasoline for July delivery dropped Monday morning in U.S. trading, losing 1.56 cents to $2.2445. It had gained for three straight sessions and touched a two-week high on Friday.
